The wood shapes come ready to paint. They have a paper you need to peel off the back so I can always tell which is the right side to paint. The wood is perfect never any knot holes or blemishes. I get the 1/4" thickness it is great for all my crafting a never worry about warping. I buy all my wood shapes from 24 hour crafts. Great quality and if you should ever have a problem they have Great customer service! They always make it right!
